WebDec 6, 2024 · Sea turtles do not make friends. Animals who live solely in solitary confinement are known as solitary animals. The only time sea turtles congregate is during mating, feeding, and nesting. Most sea turtle species only mate during the mating season. These exceptions are only used for survival purposes, and bonding is not permitted. WebAlthough freshwater turtles are well-known for group nesting, most species are solitary nesters, often deploying nest concealment to reduce egg predation risk. Records of predation on such taxa are much less common than on synchronously nesting species, most likely due to the scattered distribution and inconspicuousness of such nests.
